September 2008
On behalf of the CT Chapter Executive Board I want to welcome you for the 2008-09 Program Year. I am extremely fortunate to have most Board Members continuing to serve again this year. The one new addition, which I am happy to introduce, is Josephine Agnello-Veley, the Middlesex Community College HR & Labor Relations Director. Josephine is replacing Sandy Cunningham as Chapter Secretary. Sandy is President Elect and Program Chair this year.
We also have an enthusiastic and experienced group of members volunteering to again serve on various committees. However, we still urge all of you to get involved in some way, no matter how small the commitment. Past President Vicki Arpin and IPMA-HR Board Member Cheryl Cepelak, have been busy working with representatives from the other sponsoring Chapters on the next Regional Conference. It will be held in October of 2009 at the Mystic Hilton. This should be a great opportunity to get a large group of our members to attend a Regional event at a really wonderful location.
I need to bring several business matters to your attention. First, everyone needs to complete the 2008-09 Membership Application. It is available on our website as a “Word” document that can be downloaded and completed. We ask that you print a copy and mail it to us along with your Chapter dues. Our budget year runs from July – June, so we would appreciate you responding as soon as possible. Chapter dues are $40.00 this year for anyone who is not either an Individual or Agency Member of the national IPMA-HR. Of the $40.00, $25.00 has to be sent to IPMA-HR under the United Membership Fee arrangement, which is fully phased in this year. For those of you who are Individual or Agency Members of IPMA-HR, your dues continue to be $20.00, because we aren’t assessed the fee by IPMA-HR. Please be certain to include your IPMA-HR Membership Number on the Application, as we need to provide them for verification.
Finally, please join us for our first program this year on September 23rd. It is our annual “Legal Update” program, which is always a very informative and well-received program. I look forward to seeing you soon.
